Becoming Freddie….

Apple Music has a special feature, that takes a look behind the scenes of the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody.”  This also gives me an excuse to wax lyrical about my favourite film of 2018.

The 16-minute feature is called “Rami Malek: Becoming Freddie,” and it focuses on the transformation that actor Rami Malek went through to portray the Queen lead vocalist Freddie Mercury.  Its a great extra piece of video, to what I consider an outstanding film. If you have iTunes, watch here:

Rami Malek (of Mr Robot fame), was perfect for Freddie, even getting a Golden Globe for his performance, and also got Best Film there too.   I was told that Sasha Baron Cohen was offered it, but I really don’t think he would have made a good choice, especially as he wanted to delve into the seedier side of Freddie’s life.  Freddie was a national treasure and so I certainly do not need someone to tarnish his spirit and legacy that has influenced so many rock artists during his life, and after.

When I saw this film, I found it impossible to not sing along to the songs, and I’ve heard that there are now Karaoke versions being played now in cinemas for people to do so, much like Rocky Horror.  It goes to show how he, and indeed this film affects people.

The film is out on DVD and Digital on the 12th of February. Be sure to get a copy if you’ve not seen it yet.
It will be on iTunes here https://itunes.apple.com/gb/movie/bohemian-rhapsody/id1438698362
