Really good show this week. I see that Pete and I have finally brought you into the 'Vultures' family! Got a myspace message to Halo In Reverse as well, I REALLY want to play that track.

Regarding predictions for the future. It's my belief that the people to really suffer in the music revolution that's been going on are the independent record labels. With things like myspace & facebook it is so easy for a band to get a fanbase and then make a record themselves that a band doesn't really need to sign to a label anymore. How is a small independent label going to do a better job than the band themselves? I can easily see a scenario where the only labels are going to be the big multi-nationals and then there will be nothing in the middle before you reach the DIY approach. Koopa have proved several times that it's achievable to get a hit record on your own and I think they're going to be the first of many.

You are disallowed from leaving Twitter, Rowlz.

In my case, I almost always have a browser tab open to the thing. It's fun. But I don't do any Internetting away from the computer. I have a Sony w810i Walkman cellphone. I load some 'casts onto it, listen to those, that's it. No messaging/e-mailing/texting for me on the go. No thanks.

When an artist manages to truly get a "hit" single/album here in the States without any help at all from a record label, that's when I think the music industry will really start to change. I know, there are artists out there who've built impressive fan bases and are making a living through their music. But to the best of my knowledge, no true indie/DIY artist has really broken the mainstream here. Once that does happen, it'll show that people are ready to look outside the corporate-controlled distribution channels that are running everything now. Unfortunately, I think we're still a few years away.
