The Helvetica Meditations
It's quite amazing how one typeface has dominated the world of Signs.
What worries me is why someone has written this up.....

I get your drift. Font geeks can get a little carried away. But Helvetica does tell an interesting story. What's remarkable about the typeface is that it is simultaneously regarded as a font for high fashion (as used in advertising and editorial design) and a dull, dreary default. It's likely that Helvetica has experienced more variance of use than any other typeface (of which there are over 50,000 by some counts).
Ok, so this comment should reveal my identity as one of those typographically obsessed. Hopefully I've spread a little of the madness surrounding this craft to you and your readers/listeners.
